Trump’s Orders

Back in the whirlwind summer of 2016, as he was barnstorming the country and thrilling ecstatic fans, then-Republican nominee Donald J. Trump made a solemn vow:

“In a Trump Administration, all immigration laws will be enforced. No one will be immune.” Trump told the roaring crowds, “That is what it means to have laws and to have a country.”

To the horror of his increasingly apoplectic opponents, President Trump is following through. Over the weekend, federal officials launched nationwide raids to apprehend and expel 2,000 illegal immigrants who have ignored court mandated orders to leave the US. Minnesota lightening rod Congresswoman Ilhan Omar denounces the enforcement measures as a prong of Trump’s sinister “white nationalist” agenda. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is urging illegal immigrants to “know their rights” and resist Los Federales. New York City Mayor Bill DeBlasio and long shot presidential candidate promises that the fuzz will not take a bite out of the Big Apple’s illegal immigrant population.

Former Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson appears perplexed and exasperated by his comrades’ hysteria. The Obama administration official tells the left-leaning cable news channel MSNBC that, “Deportations occur all the time... We simply have to enforce the law.”

Last month, Johnson bluntly confessed that, “Chain link barriers, partitions, fences, cages, whatever you want to call them, were not invented on January 20, 2017, okay?” As he explained during a high altitude conference in the resort town of Aspen, Colorado, “You’ve got to find places quickly to put kids. You can't just dump 7-year-old kids on the streets of McAllen or El Paso.”

Trump has suggested sanctuary cities like San Francisco and Los Angeles. Oddly, they’ve declined.
