Dems Unplugged

Congress is back in session.

Congress is back in session. Like Thor of legend, octogenarian Nancy Pelosi has retaken her gavel as Speaker of the House to hammer in a new, Democratically controlled House of Representatives. A fresh batch of newly minted Washington politicians are competing to make their social media mark. Newly elected Rashida Tlaib of Michigan promises, “We’re gonna impeach the motherfucker!”

By “motherfucker”, the freshman congresswoman means President Donald J. Trump. She boasts, “I ran on that... It’s probably exactly how my grandmother, if she was alive, would say it!”

Her grandmother aside, Ms. Tlaib is not alone in her aspiration or fixation. Bronx socialist and cable news star Alexandria Ocasio Cortez backs her sister in “motherfucking” arms tweeting, “I got your back @RashidaTlaib - the Bronx and Detroit ride together”, emoji: bicep, heart. Over the weekend, the first and only female prime minister in Canadian history tweeted “he really IS a motherf**ker.”

Meanwhile, on the first day of the new Congress, California’s Brad Sherman filed a resolution of impeachment. The Democrat believes that President Trump obstructed the pursuit of justice when he suddenly, abruptly, and unceremoniously fired James Comey as director of the FBI.

Some democrats, however, are leery of the anti-Trump train. House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer says discussion of impeachment is a “distraction.”

Senator Doug Jones of Alabama claims his voters, “know better than to use that kind of language about the president of the United States, regardless of the coarse language that the president uses in public.” The red state senator testifies that, “My folks don’t say that.”

His folks may not say “impeachment”, or “motherfucker”, but on his side of the aisle, other folks surely do.
