Trumpers Need Not Apply
At the height of his impeachment, sex scandal veteran Bill Clinton and his loyal supporters condemned the “politics of personal destruction.” That was then. For many combatants on the left, the Era of Trump demands total war.
Brian Fallon, Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign press secretary, is furiously plotting to personally destroy Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh. On his agenda: pressuring George Mason University Law School to fire Kavanaugh from teaching a summer course. University President Angel Cabrera refuses to comply and notes the class is oversubscribed.
Meanwhile, a consortium of high profile liberal advocacy groups is demanding America’s CEOs blacklist nearly 30 top Trump officials whom they accuse of “putting kids in cages” at the southern border. The “Restore Public Trust” coalition placed a full page ad in the New York Times blaring, “Don’t let hate into your boardroom.”
Google recently capitulated to its own political firing squad. Diversity activists were enraged by Google’s inclusion of conservative think tank president Kay Coles James on a new, artificial intelligence advisory council. The ever vigilant mob howled for her excommunication. Within two weeks, the tech giant scrapped the project.
Of her surreal cyber experience, Coles James writes, “They called me anti-immigrant and anti-LGBTQ and a bigot... I’m a 69-year-old black woman who grew up fighting segregation.” The real life lesson: “Agree with the left, or be destroyed.”
Or, be poisoned. Last week, a columnist for the Boston Globe cheerfully encouraged restaurant staff to tamper with Trump officials’ food. The former waiter advised, “You might lose your serving job. But you’d be serving America.” You’d also be risking jail time. But no price is too high, or tactic too low, serving the #Resistance.
