Kavanaugh Post Script

A lie can travel halfway around the world while the truth is still putting on its shoes. Jonathan Swift.

Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley has laced up his shoes, pulled the strings tight, and largely exonerated Justice Brett Kavanaugh. This weekend, the Republican-led Judiciary Committee released a 414 page review of the sexual misconduct allegations that nearly sank Kavanaugh’s Supreme Court nomination.

After interviewing over 40 witnesses, combing through electronic communications, reviewing media testimonies, sworn statements and FBI reports, the committee concludes: “[T]here was no evidence to substantiate any of the claims of sexual assault made against Justice Kavanaugh.”

Four of Kavanaugh’s accusers now face potential felony prosecution for false statements and obstruction. One of those targets is Michael Avenatti of Stormy Daniels fame. The committee alleges the porn lawyer and aspiring 2020 Democratic presidential candidate encouraged his client, Julie Swetnick, to shade, if not totally invent, her Kavanaugh calumnies. Avenatti slams the report as “garbage” and insists “there is no evidence my client or I did anything wrong.”

Among the revelations:

– Yale University was, indeed, terrorized by a well known, compulsive flasher. He was not, however, Brett Kavanaugh.
– One Kavanaugh accuser admitted that she fabricated her allegations “as a way to grab attention.”
– The immediate family of Christine Blasey Ford, Kavanaugh’s primary accuser, “refused to provide statements or participate in an interview.” Throughout the national ordeal, her parents and two brothers remained noticeably and strangely silent.

Where does Justice Kavanaugh go to get his reputation back? It’s a question as old as politics.

For now: Serving on the United States Supreme Court.
